Shops Onboarding Criteria

GREEN

  • Pure school customer
  • Team associated to a school
  • Kid's camp
  • University/college groups and associations
  • Team leagues
  • The really emotional one --> you can really tell that an organization has an altruistic cause to it. (we always feel good about writing a cheque to them even though we know we're cutting into margin)
  • Larger companies where it's evident that they're working toward a cause based on their website (ie they have a citizenship section to it)
  • There are probably more that could fit here, but can't think of it right now. One of the other factors I consider, but I don't want to burden you with this one but it's good for your visibility ....I look to the long term view as well - are they large, will they continuously buy, or are they setting something up for one weekend/event and then we have a dead store. We'll let these "weekenders" go for now, but I want to clean this up.

RED

  • Small businesses where they're not literally a cause or they're not doing this for a cause (or they haven't clarified this for us yet), but instead they're trying to save money or think this is a kickback. I want these guys to be offered Slaite or gently transitioned to a sales channel.

YELLOW

  • This is probably where many non-schools fit.
  • The flight school one was an interesting example because even though they call themselves an "academy", there are 2 types of academies .....accredited schools vs businesses that use the word academy (eg. Globe Driving Academy here in Toronto is a driving "school" but we'd probably all agree that it's a business)
  • Weekender teams
  • We're going to evolve this over time:
    • there's a larger picture we're discussing right now on how to handle this platform overall vs businesses that want a shop-in-a-box to sell merch but that I don't want to give 10% back to. ZipMerch is not the answer for these businesses. But giving them 10% back is a waste because they're not fundraising for a cause and we lose profits.
    • So we may start to just let these go for now and fix it later OR we may begin fixing it now. But TBD.
    • For now, I guess let them go through (I say super-begrudgingly)
