Putting Client on Hold

5 important steps to properly place a client on hold

1) Ask permission to put the client on hold

2) Provide a time frame 

3) Return to the call in the time frame given!!! - (This would also be a good time to let the client know if you need a few more minutes).

4) Thank the customer 

5) Apologize for the wait 


So it should sound like this below:


"Roger would it be ok if I place you on a brief hold while I look into your inquiry.  It should only take me 1-2 minutes or less"?

The client would listen to hold music rather than dead air

"Hi Roger, thank you so much for holding, I apologize for the wait"
